Junior Final: Guinchard wins at the red flag

On a completely dry track, the Junior Final of the Rotax MAX Challenge International Trophy looked exciting after the incredible battle of the Prefinal that took place the day before. Several top drivers were looking to try to redo their handicap on the grid.

Freddie Spindlow (GBR – Kosmic – KR Sport) wasted no time to overtake the poleman Patriks Locmelis (LVA – Kosmic – KSB Racing Team), followed by Andrej Petrovic (SRB – Lion Kart – SSC-Sportstil) and Daniel Guinchard (GBR – KR – Argenti Motorsport). Andy Ratel (FRA – Exprit – KBK) was 5th and Giltaire (FRA – Sodi – Sodi Vitesse) 6th. Locmelis dropped back to 4th position in front of Alex Powell (JAM – KR – Argenti Motorsport). On lap 4, Guinchard was leading ahead of Spindlow and Powell. William Macintyre (GBR – Kosmic – KR Sport) made a spectacular comeback in 3rd position, and Aaron Walker (GBR – Tony Kart – Strawberry Racing) took back 15 places in 7th. The duel between Guinchard and Spindlow was in full swing for the lead, one second ahead of Macintyre who soon lost ground to Walker. Ratel took part in the epic battle for 5th place. The rain made its appearance on the 10th of the 16 laps. There were more and more runouts. Giltaire was one of the first victims, followed by Walker. On the 13th lap, the red flag put an end to the Dantesque situation.

Guinchard was thus the winner against Walker (+20 pl), Macintyre and Spindlow, 2nd on the line, but penalized. Leon Zelenko (SVN – Kosmic – SSC-Sportstil) moved up to 5th position. Alessandro Giusti (FRA – Kosmic – KPR) was 6th ahead of Téo Blin (FRA – Tony Kart – Kart Management) and Ethan Pharamond (FRA – Kosmic – KPR).
