Champions of the Future – Junior pole for Badoer in Portimao

Qualifying practice of the Champions of the Future started on Friday 30th October in Portimao with fine weather and a mild temperature of 22°.

Ugo Ugochukwu (KR/Iame) set the fastest time of the first session with 58”123, followed by Christian Ho (KR/Iame). Emmo Fittipaldi (KR/Iame) followed at 0,142” ahead of Rashid Al Dhaheri (Parolin/TM) and Alex Powell (KR/Iame). Augustion Bernier (KR/Iame) posted a good 10th fastest lap time.

In the second session, Brando Badoer (KR/Iame) and Rintaro Sato (Kosmic/Vortex) made the difference. 58”005 for the Italian and 58”096 for the Japanese, the best times achieved so far. Dion Gowda (Kosmic/Vortex) was 3rd by 0.290” against Douwe Dedecker (KR/Iame) and Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart/Vortex). Macéo Capietto (Kosmic/Vortex) was not far behind in 6th position. Notably, Italian Champion Alfio Spina (Tony Kart/Vortex) was not credited with any time.

With the fastest time of the third session, Arvid Lindblad (KR/Iame) was however a tenth slower than Badoer previously. Evan Giltaire (Sodi/TM) took an excellent 2nd place, 2 tenths behind Tymoteusz Kucharczyk (RK/TM). Valerio Rinicella (Parolin/TM) finished 4th ahead of Herolind Nuredini (KR/Iame). Arthur Rogeon (Exprit/Vortex) was 9th. Karol Pasiewicz (Birel ART/TM) was only 23rd and Maxwell Dodds (Parolin/TM) didn’t post any lap time.

The top five in the final practice classification was Badoer, Lindblad, Ugochukwu, Sato and Giltaire. Capietto was 16th, Rogeon 26th, Bernier 30th. Alessandro Giusti was 51st, Arthur Poulain (Sodi/Iame) 55th, Romain Andriolo (Sodi/TM) 56th, Maxens Verbrugge (KR/Iame) 57th, Jolan Raccamier (DR/Modena) 64th, Antonio Leite (KR/Iame) 66th ahead of Maxime Furon-Castelain (Exprit/TM), Guillaume Bouzar (Parolin/TM) 70th and Jules Roussel (Sodi/TM) 82nd.
