Trofeu Ayrton Senna Kart at Birigui

Theater of the FIA World Championship Karting – OK & Junior 2020, the Brazilian circuit Speed Kart of Birigui welcomes from January 21st to 25th a complete event in tribute to the great champion: the 1st Trofeu Ayrton Senna Kart. No less than 14 classes are on the programme, including the international OK, OK-Junior and KZ2 categories. Numerous activities are planned, such as hiking events, shows and an exhibition of historical objects of the three-time F1 world champion.

The event will be organised by Two Points, a structure created by Tuka Rocha, stock car driver and three-time Brazilian karting champion who recently passed away, and Thiago Pereira, Olympic medallist in swimming. The competition will feature special trophies to reward the drivers in several ways, such as the Passing Trophy and the Pole Position Trophy. In addition, the championship will have an historic novelty. For the first time in Brazil, a women-only category will be created.

The Ayrton Senna Kart Trophy will also benefit from the support of the Instituto Ayrton Senna. “I am sure that the Ayrton Senna Kart Trophy will be a historic competition for our sport. My uncle loved to race in karts, even after reaching the top of F1 with three world titles. Karting was part of the essence of his personality, going to the limit to fight for victory and also to have fun in the sport. This will be a great celebration and another special tribute to Ayrton,” said Bianca Senna, the driver’s niece and marketing director at Instituto Ayrton Senna.
