During the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals, the 72 Junior Max drivers set off in the sun and warmth for their Qualifying Practices on the Sarno track with their Praga chassis.

 

In the odd-numbered group, Dani van Ruiten (NLD) was the first to go under 1’01”. Mike van Vugt (NLD) took the lead, Sacha Maguet was in the top four, then Oli Pylka (FIN) was the fastest. Noam Abramczyk was in the top five on the penultimate lap. Pylka kept the fastest time, 1’00”581, while van Vugt came back to one thousandth with Miska Kaskinen (FIN). Kris Haanen (NLD) completed the final top five. Abramczyk finished 8th, Maguet 10th, Téo Blin (FRA) 15th and Enzo Caldaras (FRA) 16th, within 3 tenths of each other.

 

Charlie Wurz (AUT) crossed the 1’01” bar first in the even-numbered group and then quickly approached 1’00”500. Clay Osborne (NZL) set a superb 1’00”328 then improved the category’s pole position to 1’00”311. Wurz came back to 2nd position by 63 thousandths, ahead of Hugh Barter (AUS) in 3rd by 2 tenths. Schu Dozono (JPN) and Hitoshi Sakai (JPN) completed the top five while the top seven were faster than the odd series.

 

Pylka was 8th overall, ahead of Van Vugt and Kaskinen. The top Frenchman Abranczyk was 18th, Maguet 25th, Blin 36th and Caldaras 37th.
