Team France Sarno – Monday Day 1

This year, Team France will bring together 16 drivers for the 20th edition of the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals which will take place from 19th to 26th October on the superb Italian circuit of Sarno. Sunday was as usual devoted to drawing lots for chassis, engine and tyres. It was then up to the mechanics to enter the scene for the most rigorous assembly of the complete karts. The traditional Welcome Party closed the day in an excellent festive atmosphere.

On Monday, three test sessions were on the programme. The goal was to get started with the karts, discover the chassis and the tyres and to get acquainted with the Neapolitan track which has plenty of grip. Some good performances enlivened the day in fine, reasonably warm weather.

Mini Max – CompKart
Andy Ratel finished with the fastest time of the day in Mini Max – 1’05”837 – while Jolan Raccamier took 3rd place and Paul Alberto 9th, while Karel Schulz scored the 14th time during the second session. Everything is going well with the very young drivers who learn quickly, without making time to relax on Fortnite…

Junior Max – Praga
Noam Abramczyk set the 4th fastest time of the day, while Sacha Maguet finished the first two sessions in 1st place. Téo Blin improved in the second session, but admitted that it was hard at the end of the day. Generally unhappy with Monday, Enzo Caldaras however trusted his ability to adapt.

Senior Max – Sodi
Consistent in the top three of his group, Paul Fourquemin achieved the 3rd fastest time of the day. César Gazeau had quickly learned the track and was competitive during the last session. Guillaume Treillard de Quinemont was much faster in the afternoon. As for the Master driver Florian Bourdon, he took the measure of his young opponents, although he knew it not be easy for him.

DD2 – Birel ART

Very competitive at the end of the afternoon after having worked well on his kart, Nicolas Picot set nothing less than the fastest time of the day during the last session, with 59”252. Lucas Joly did not take full advantage of his first session because of a transponder problem, but he caught up in the second to 8th in his group.

DD2 Master – Sodi

It was complicated debut for the two Frenchmen in the 32 and over category. Romain Mangé was rolled during his first session. A trip to hospital diagnosed a broken collarbone, and the competition ended abruptly before it had really started… Less serious, but still embarrassing, Rudy Champion, unable to arrive on time Sunday because of his professional obligations, was forbidden to test on Monday.
