At the end of the Lonato meeting, the Final of the FIA ??Karting World Championship – KZ raised the tension a notch. Two drivers had dominated the qualifications and shared the front row of the starting grid, Marijn Kremers (Birel ART / TM) and Adrien Renaudin (Sodi / TM), while Matteo Vigano’ (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Riccardo Longhi (Birel ART / TM) were waiting impatiently on the second row. The weather was still cloudy, but now without fear of rain.

Alessandro Irlando (Birel ART / TM) did not start. Kremers and Renaudin followed each other closely, Vigano retained 3rd place ahead of Stan Pex (KR / Vortex), followed by Longhi and Simo Puhakka (Tony Kart / Vortex). Bas Lammers (Sodi / TM) beat Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) for 7th place, and Paolo De Conto (CRG / TM) was back in the top 10. Kremers pulled out a small gap to Renaudin, followed by Vigano. Longhi was at the front of the chasing pack again, 1.2″ behind the leaders. Renaudin raised the pace from the lap 6 onwards. He went on the attack on lap 8 and took the lead, but Kremers did not admit defeat. Renaudin did not let it go, Vigano lost a bit of time and let Longhi go ahead before repassing.

Kremers attacked again on lap 12 and closed the door to prevent Renaudin from responding immediately. In 4th position, Puhakka was followed by Lammers who found the opening soon after. Kremers pushed to leave Renaudin behind while Longhi was getting closer. This situation continued without changes of position between the three drivers in full control. Kremers did not let go and crossed the finish line as the new World Champion, 5 tenths ahead of Renaudin, who was then penalized until 9th position. Longhi completing the success of Birel ART with his 2nd place, a success for the 60th anniversary of the Lissone brand. Sodikart was not left behind with 3rd position for Lammers in front of Puhakka.
