Siksnelis takes pole in Academy

The 46 young talents of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy were divided into two groups for their Qualifying Practice at Lonato. Elliott Vayron (FRA) was very incisive along with Mattéo Spirgel early in the session. But Maxwell Dodds (GBR) ended up setting the fastest lap of this first session with 50”285. Jacob Douglas (NZL) climbed to 2nd place 22 thousandths later while Robert De Haan (NLD) took 3rd place one thousandth ahead of Vayron. Filip Jenic (SRB) was in the top five, while Spirgel finished in 8th place by 0.166”.

 

Christian Ho (SGP) and Kajus Siksnelis (LTU) competed for 1st place in the second session in a thrilling duel that took them to the top of the overall standings. Siksnelis definitively took the lead and took pole position – 50”133 – relegating his rival by 82 thousandths. Paolo Ferrari (ITA) was 3rd, but more than 3 tenths behind and was 10th in the standings. Lucas Bohdanowicz (ARG) and Bartolomej Piekutowski (POL) completed the top five in the session.
