Qualifying Practice for the OK-Junior World Championship took place under blue skies on Friday, 6th September, in late afternoon at Alahärmä in Finland, with a temperature of about 15°. The 104 participants were divided into four groups.

Connor Zilisch (Tony Kart / Vortex) led the first session, followed by Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART / TM). The last lap brought some changes with the fastest lap from Ugo Ugochukwu (FA Kart / Vortex) with 45”061, 16 thousandths faster than Bertuca. Macéo Capietto (KR / Iame) was 3rd in front of Zilisch and Tuuka Taponen (Redspeed / Iame); Marcus Amand (Kosmic / Iame) was 6th by 0.242” ahead of Robert De Haan (Energy / TM) and Evan Giltaire (Sodi /TM).

Three seeds were in the second group with Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR / Iame), Thomas Ten Brinke (FA Kart / Vortex) and James Wharton (Parolin / TM). Antonelli set several quick laps in 1st position, Rafale Camara (Exprit / TM) then took the lead and finished with provisional pole in 44”878, 56 thousandths ahead of Ten Brinke. Antonelli finished 3rd to a tenth followed by Wharton and Artem Severiukhin (Tony Kart / Vortex).

Ken Oskar Aligre (Tony Kart / Vortex) stayed in 1st place for several laps in the third session, but the last two minutes changed everything. Jamie Day (Exprit / Vortex) came back, with Martinius Stenshorne (FA Kart / Vortex) in front of him before Day took the advantage with 45”124, a relatively average time compared to the first two sessions which put him in 9th position in the general classification. Markus Kajak (Tony Kart / Vortex) finished 2nd by 4 thousandths, Maxwell Dodds (KR / Iame) 3rd and Suleiman Zanfari (Kosmic / Iame) 4th ahead of Stenshorne.

A handful of drivers delayed their entry to the track in the last session. Josep Marti Sobrepera (Tony Kart / Vortex) was improving, but Nikita Bedrin (Tony Kart / Vortex) took pole position in the very last lap with 44”824. Sobrepra was 2nd by 62 thousandths, Arvid Lindblad (Exprit / TM) 3rd, a good tenth further behind, Laurens Van Hoepen (FA Kart / Vortex) in 4th and Patrick Hakala (Redspeed / Iame) 5th.
