Le Mans FIA: First pole position for Kobe Pauwels in OK

The 67 OK drivers in the European Championship at Le Mans were divided into four groups for Qualifying Practice, alternating with OK-Junior.

Dino Beganovic (Tony Kart / Vortex) was the first to go under the 51” mark in the first session. He improved against Oliver Goethe (KR / Iame) and Luigi Coluccio (Birel ART / TM), then Kirill Smal (Tony Kart / Vortex) came as close as one thousandth before setting the fastest time – 50”798 – but he was deprived of his time for exceeding the limits of the track. Kobe Pauwels (KR / Iame) was therefore credited with the fastest lap – 50’822, while Beganovic was 2nd by 2 thousandths. Behind Smal, Joseph Turney (Tony Kart / Vortex) was 4th by less than a tenth and Coluccio was 5th.

Taylor Barnard (KR / Iame) quickly took the lead in Session 2 with a lap of 51”201 ahead of Harry Thompson (FA Kart / Vortex), but finished on 51”166, three thousandths ahead of Nikolas Pirttilahti (KR / Iame). Dilano Vant’Hoff (Exprit / TM) took 3rd place, followed by Thompson while Gabriel Bortoleto (CRG / Iame) finished 5th.

Dexter Patterson (KR / Iame) was in the lead for the third session, but Gabriele Mini (Parolin / TM) was the fastest with 50”837, one tenth faster. Matias Salonen (KR / Iame) was 3rd in front of Joshua Dufek (KR / Iame) and Hannes Janker (KR / Iame). After posting the 6th fastest time, Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG / Iame) was disqualified for not using the right tyres.

Thomas Imbourg was prominent in the fourth session fighting with Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR / Iame). He improved until the end with 50”987, 0.167” faster than Sebastian Ögaard (Tony Kart / Vortex), while Leonardo Fornaroli (KR / Iame) took 3rd place, Susmno Thanapongpan (Birel ART /  TM) 4th and Imbourg 5th.
