WSK Angerville: Ten Brinke deprived of victory, Van Hoepen on the podium

The Ricky Flynn Motorsport Junior drivers took part in the WSK Euro Series – Round 2, their third race in a month at the French circuit of Angerville. Dominant throughout the weekend, Ten Brinke was on his way to victory before an incident took him down to 5th place. Van Hoepen made a nice comeback to the third step of the podium.

The entry of the second meeting of the WSK Euro Series was smaller than for previous events, while the weather had improved significantly. Although threatening, the Angerville skies did not produce rain during the OK-Junior races, even though the grip was variable.

Already very comfortable during the European Championship, Thomas Ten Brinke marked his territory from Qualifying onwards by achieving pole position. He confirmed his claims during the heats and won again in the Prefinal. Leader at the start of the Final, he took the lead two laps from the finish, but his rival then forced a pass and he was forced onto the grass, which dropped him to 5th position. After starting badly with 23rd in Qualifying, Laurens Van Hoepen applied himself to move up in the heats and returned to the top 10 of the Prefinal. He continued to attack in the Final and reached an excellent 3rd place, which allowed him to progress eight places to 7th position in the Championship, while Ten Brinke is ranked 2nd.

Winner of a heat, James Wharton still did not seem comfortable with the Angerville circuit. 4th on Saturday night, he finished 7th in the Prefinal before finishing 8th in the Final. Conrad Laursen stayed on the edge of the top 10 during the entire meeting and finished 11th in the Final. Consistently at the front, Christian Ho started in the top three in Qualifying and the heats then went on to finish 5th in the Final. A spoiler penalty unfortunately dropped him down to 12th position. Ugo Ugochukwu was less competitive than usual and had a mixed race in 18th position. The Norwegian Martinius Stenshorne familiarised himself with the team and his FA Kart / Vortex during this event which he finished in 15th position after a retirement with heavy consequences at the start of his second heat.

The RFM team will now head to Wackersdorf for the second round of the German Championship before returning to European competition at the Belgian circuit of Genk.
