Europe – Angerville: Capietto wins the Junior pole

The weather was perfectly clear and incredibly hot (23°) at Angerville for the Timed Qualifying of the FIA Karting European Championship – Junior.

 

Macéo Capietto (KR / Iame) headed Alexander Dunne (Tony Kart / Vortex) at the very end of the first session with a time of 50”778, Tuuka Taponen (Redspeed / Iame) was 3rd in front of Artem Severiukhin (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Ugo Ugochukwu (FA Kart / Vortex). The top five were separated by only 66 thousandths of a second. Maxime Furon-Castelain (Kosmic / Iame) scored an excellent 9th fastest time, Elliott Vayron (Birel ART / TM) finished 12th and Enzo Peugeot (Kosmic / Iame) 14th.

 

James Wharton (FA Kart / Vortex) was fastest in the very last moments of the second session, in 50”785, followed by Jamie Day (Exprit / Vortex) and Evan Giltaire (Sodi / TM). Samuli Mertsalmi (Tony Kart / TM) took 4th place ahead of Tymoteusz Kucharczyk (Parolin / TM). Mattéo Spirgel (Birel ART / TM) finished 12th, just behind Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR / Iame).

 

In a final effort, Thomas Ten Brinke (FA Kart / Vortex) took the lead in the third session with 50”875, followed at 11 thousandths of a second by Marcus Amand (KR / Iame), while Enzo Trulli (CRG / Iame) took 3rd place at a short distance. There was a nice 4th place for Patrick Hakala (Redspeed / Iame) against Conrad Laursen (FA Kart / Vortex) and Robert De Haan (Energy / TM). Arthur Rogeon took a good 9th place, Lola Lovinfosse (Tony Kart / Iame) finished 25th.

 

Capietto was the Junior poleman in front of Wharton and Dunne, while Taponen and Sevriukhin completed the top five. Giltaire was 9th ahead of Amand, Rogeon and Spirgel were 29th and 30th, Vayron 37th, and Peugeot 41st.
