The specialists knew that Brent Crews was one to watch in Brazil, despite his modest 17th in Qualifying. 5th last year while aiming for victory, the American has just won the IAME International Final in X30 Mini and the Supernationals in Las Vegas in Mini Swift. Gradually, he moved up the hierarchy at the end of the week and did not hesitate to get involved in the Final fight in the decisive race of this Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals.

Harry Hannam, the United Arab Emirates driver, in the lead for only two laps after starting on pole. He was quickly replaced by the Dutchman Mitchell Van Dijk. It was then that Crews went into action and took control of the Final, soon followed by the Belgian Douwe Dedecker.

There was a beautiful duel between Crews and Dedecker, under the eyes of Van Dijk. Two laps from the finish, he tried to overtake Dedecker, giving Brent Crews a margin of safety. This was enough to allow the American to cross the finish line as a major winner.

Van Dijk retook his chance at the finish and passed, but Dedecker made a good move to get his rival under braking and confirm his 2nd place. Poland’s Maksymilian Obst finished in 4th place in front of another compact group led by Harry Hannam and Belgium’s Tom Braeken (6th).
