Rotax has moved to Brazil with the electric karts that have animated the German Championship this year in a new category (DEKM). At the beginning of the meeting, they first competed in the 2018 FIA-Americas E-Karting Cup. There were drivers from South and Central America.

Two Brazilian teams faced competitors from Colombia, Paraguay, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Mexico, Bolivia, Chile, Guatemala and El Salvador.

In the Final, the Brazilian Roberto Da Silveira regained his 1st place on Monday and won alone to the delight of his fans massed noisily at the edge of the track. After resisting the Colombian Juan Jose Diaz Rodriguez at the start of the race, Germany’s Lukas Horstmann finally narrowly defeated his team-mate Philipp Britz for the win in 2nd place. The Colombian was happy with 4th place ahead of Dennis Siemens.
With regard to times, the best lap of the Final was achieved in 55″451 with the Rotax Thunder electric engine, while the Rotax Max Senior was ahead with 51″894. It is true that the high weight of the electric engine does not work in its favour.

On Monday, Brazilian Roberto Da Silveira won in the Final ahead of Karim Hussein Bock of the Dominican Republic and Juan Jose Diaz Rodriguez of Colombia. The following day, 12 German DEKM drivers and four drivers from the FIA-Americas E-Karting Cup came into action.
