As Rotax did last year at Portimao for the first time at its World Final, a “Super Heat” system has been set up, as at the Winter Cup at Lonato for two years. Rotax has retained the Prefinal A and Prefinal B names on its timetable sheet, so confusion has sometimes prevailed in the minds of competitors and even the media.

It will not automatically be the top 17 of the Friday races that will qualify for the Final. For this race, only in the Junior, Senior, DD2 and DD2 Master categories, the starting grid is defined according to the classification of the Qualifying Heats on Wednesday and Thursday (three per driver).

Then, a new addition is made Friday night, with points totalled in the first three heats and points of this Prefinal, which is actually a super heat. The starting grid of the Final will be decided according to this new classification.

Note that in Micro Max and Mini Max, the system will be more traditional, with the Prefinal used to define the starting order of the Final.
