Many finalists in view for Team France

Although the four French drivers racing in Mini Max participate in the Final because of the number of entries (36), nothing has been decided for the others. But it is likely that more than 80% of Team France will be on the starting grid of the Finals on Saturday. Let’s first take stock after the heats.

Junior Max

A group has formed with Marcus Amand 17th just ahead of Dylan Léger, Esteban Masson 20th and Cesar Gazeau 28th. One of the good points is the two fastest laps from Esteban Masson, who currently holds the absolute record of the meeting in the category. He also made a spectacular comeback from 17th to 6th in the A-D heat. Dylan Léger admitted he may have been too confident in a heat, but he also won some places since Qualifying time.

After a good run in the morning finishing in 7th place, Marcus Amand was a little slower in the afternoon. As for Cesar Gazeau, a penalty for his spoiler deprives him of a better place in the intermediate, despite very good speed.

Senior Max
With his 24th initial time, Bastien Borget has not had an easy task, but the Frenchman is competitive and he managed to gain places in all three heats. He even has a 7th place to his credit. 14th overall, he has the performance and talent to enter the top 10. Penalised for his spoiler in his heat on Wednesday, Paul Fourquemin returned to attack of pack with successive finishes of 14th (+9) counting a penalty for his spoiler and 13th (+9). Ranked 32nd after the three heats, he deserves a better place. Rudy Champion saw his nice recovery in the B / D round annihilated by a spoiler penalty. In the intermediate (unofficial), he is 53rd.

DD2
Nicolas Picot and Paolo Besancenez are certainly on the pace. However, they caused a small hiccup within Team France. In the morning heat where they faced each other, they hit each other on the first lap. Paolo had to finish the race with a twisted connecting rod. Fortunately, they performed well during their three heats: 10th place overall for Nicolas, just ahead of his compatriot. With excellent 6th and 5th finishes in their last heats, Nicolas and Paolo do not intend to stop there.

DD2 Master
The gains of Franck Lavergne did not go unnoticed! Motivated by his 14 places made up on Wednesday in A / B, he continued his efforts to progress further in the hierarchy. 26th (+5) on Thursday morning, he reached 19th place (+12) in the afternoon. His 40th position in the intermediate gives him a chance to qualify for the Final.
