Genk: Spain’s Callejas sets the fastest time in the Academy

Kobe Pauwels (BEL) was fastest in the first timed session of the FIA ??Karting Academy Trophy on the Genk track, which he knows well. Joshua Rattican (GBR) was close behind at 43 thousandths and Suleiman Zanfari (MAR) was 3rd at 80 thousandths. Robert De Haan (NLD) and Jak Crawford (USA) completed the top five. Sami Meguetounif (FRA) could do no better than 10th.

In the second session, Isidro Callejas Gomez (ESP) dominated and took pole position in the Trophy with 55”819 ahead of Tuuka Taponen (FIN). Guilherme A. De Figueiredo (BRA) was in 3rd place in the final seconds to overtake leader Jose Maria Navalon Boya (ESP) and Joshua Coertze (ZAF). Craig Tanic (FRA) finished strongly in 6th position.

The top four of the last group held the top four places in the overall standings, Callejas 1st, Taponen 2nd, De Figueiredo 3rd and Navalon 4th, Pauwels was 5th in front of Rattican, Coertze was 7th and Tanic 8th.
