Qualifying Practice for the European OK Championship was held at Ampfing under beautiful sunshine and quite high temperatures. Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR / Parilla), Harry Thompson (FA Kart / Vortex), Zane Maloney (FA Kart / Vortex) and Hannes Janker (KR / Parilla) were the fastest of the day in Free Practice. The Qualifying sessions alternated with the Juniors and only half of the eight minutes were used.

Juho Valtanen (Kosmic / Vortex) knocked Danny Keirle (KR / Parilla) out of the lead in the first session by crossing the 42” mark. The Finn – on 41”985 – beat the reigning World Champion by 44 thousandths. Hugo Sasse (KR / Parilla) took 3rd place a hundredth further back, Jonny Edgar (Exprit / TM) finished 4th in front of Marius Zug, all in the same tenth. Behind Callum Bradshaw (CRG / TM), Evan Spenle (Kosmic / Parilla) took a superb 7th place ahead of Noah Milell (Tony Kart / Vortex), while Franck Chappard (Redspeed / Parilla) was 12th.

In the second session, Hannes Janker (KR / Parilla) took the lead on the first lap, Marijn Kremers (Birel ART / TM) and Mattia Michelotto (KR / Parilla) followed suit with Christopher Lulham (Exprit / TM). But Janker continued to improve to finish on an exceptional time of 41”775 which gave him provisional pole. Michelotto finished 2nd, but 0.280” slower, followed by Tijmen Van Der Helm (Tony Kart / Vortex), Lulham and Kremers. Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG / TM) took a modest 10th place, Jules Mettetal (Redspeed / Parilla) was 17th and Vincent Fraïsse (Birel ART / TM) 19th.

Harry Thompson (FA Kart / Vortex) quickly returned to the pace of the third session ahead of Dexter Patterson (Exprit / TM) and Zane Maloney (FA Kart / Vortex). But Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR / Parilla) finished the session with the fastest time – 41”922, 2nd overall – while Thompson followed by 48 thousandths and took 3rd place, Patterson 3rd, Maloney 4th, Luigi Coluccio (Birel ART / TM ) 5th and Roman Stanek (Kosmic / Vortex) 6th by 1.5 tenths. Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart / Vortex) was also in the lead group in 7th place followed by Andrea Rosso (CRG / TM) while the 12th fastest time for David Vidales (Tony Kart / Vortex) was a bit disappointing at 0.341” from Travisanutto.

Janker was the poleman in OK, 0.147″ ahead of Travisanutto and Thompson, with Valtanen 4th and Keirle 5th. The top Frenchman, Spenle had a good 21st place having posted the best performance of the VDK team. Chappard clocked 41st, Mettetal 48th and Fraïsse 51st out of 76 participants.
