Short and winding, the Ampfing circuit is not easy to learn quickly. In the return of the European Championship for 2018, drivers are discovering the Schweppermannring. One part seems particularly difficult to negotiate without losing time: the chicane. It must be said that the grass of past years has been replaced by concrete, with medium size rumble strips hardly dissuasive.

Everyone cuts in to the left, but how far can we go?

From this perspective, the problem is better understood. The inner limit of the track is represented by a red band that should not be touched under penalty of incurring penalties (exceeding the limits of the track). During Free Practice on Thursday, 14th June, three cones “barred” the shortest route. But can this solution be allowed in an official CIK-FIA competition? The unfortunate cone on the right is very often hit, on occasion it is in full flight and represents a real risk.

The answer may be given to competitors at the next briefing … more to follow!
