48 of the 51 participants in the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy took part in the two Qualifying Practice sessions of their first 2018 event at Salbris.
In Session 1, Sami Meguetounif (FRA) finally took the lead over Jose Maria Navalon Boya (ESP) continuing to push on his fifth fast lap and clocked a time of 1’01”491, 2 hundredths faster. In 3rd, Kotaro Shimbara (JPN) was relegated by more than 2 tenths, with William Orton (GBR) and Joshua Rattican (GBR) finishing in the top five.
Craig Tanic (FRA), then Suleiman Zanfari (MAR) took the provisional lead in the second session, but Kobe Pawels (BEL) finished as fastest – 1’01”559 – ahead of Kajus Siksnelis (LTU) and Isidro Callejas Gomez (ESP).
Meguetounif remained the poleman of the category in front of Navalon, Pauwels was inserted in 3rd position in front of Shimbara and Siksnelis for the top five, then Callejas, Zanfari and Orton.
