Senior Max: French victory in Prefinal B for Nomblot

Brett Ward (GBR) and Lauri Leppa (FIN) monopolized the front row on the starting grid of Prefinal B for Senior Max (Sodi), but Jean Nomblot (FRA) was also in 5th position, while Matthieu Bourdon (FRA) had no more illusions in 32nd place. Ward was the leader, Nomblot was quickly up to 3rd, then 2nd on the third lap ahead of Koki Mizuno (JPN) who took control. Bradley Barrett (GBR) and Leppa were fighting for 4th place. Nomblot took the lead on the lap 5, while Mizuno did not let up the pressure, himself under more or less direct threat from Barrett, Ward and Leppa. Slightly detached at the end of the race, the leading trio started two last epic laps. Mizuno attempted an attack at the end of the straight, but Nomblot did not falter and took a very impressive victory. Ward was in 3rd place, Leppa was in 4th position, ahead of Petr Bezel’s (CZE) recovery.
