Stien wins pole in DD2

Martin Henckel Mortensen (DEU), then Mads Thomsen (DNK), Pedro Pinto (PRT), Martins Steinerts (LET) and Jan Slosar (SLO) led the start of the first timed session for DD2 in the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals at Portimao. Ville Villiaeinen (FIN) took the lead, but Thomsen was ahead of Villiaeinen and Henckel Mortensen, with Nico Brueger (CHE) 4th and Christian Sorensen (DNK) 5th.

 

Nikolai Stien (NOR) dominated the second session and even took pole position with 58”485 while Cody Gillis (AUS) saved his 2nd place against Kacper Bielecki (POL), who was 3rd on the last lap ahead of Marc Dueholm (DNK) and Xen De Ruwe (SLO). Lucas Joly (FRA) was back in 22nd after a shortened session, with Andrew Williamson (FRA) finishing 32nd.

 

Stien led the overall standings ahead of Thomsen and Gillis, with Villiaeinen and Bielecki completing the top five. Joly was 43rd and Williamson 59th.
