Longhi takes the Super Cup pole in KZ2

The weather remained cloudy but without rain at Wackersdorf during the four timed sessions of the KZ2 Super Cup. As always, pressure was rising as the drivers waited for the moment to take the track, just before halfway through their session, sneaking looks at each other, always running the risk of not finding a clear laps at the right time.

 

Daniel Stell (Mach 1 / TM), Martijn Van Leeuwen (Energy / TM), Rokas Bacisuka (Sodi / TM) and Alessio Piccini (Tony Kart / Vortex) took turns at the top of the first session. Stell finished as leader with a time of 47”028, which was 0.160” faster than Bacisuka. Van Leeuwen finished in 3rd place while Hubert Petit came in 4th in front of Piccini. Behind Erik Rismyrh (Sodi / TM), Paolo Besancenez (Energy / Vortex) was 12th by 3.5 tenths, but Flavian Soguel (Luxor / LKE) was distanced.

 

Marco Zanchetta (Maranello / TM) and Nicolas Gonzales (Maranello / TM) were at the top of the second session, but the positions changed significantly each lap with fast drivers like Max Tubben (CRG / TM), Troy Loeskow (Ricciardo / TM) and Giacomo Pollini (Formula K / TM). Simone Cunati finally took the advantage with 47”134 ahead of Zanchetta and Pollini, then Loeskow and Tubben. Gonzales ranked 6th, and Adrien Renaudin (Sodi / TM) 13th by less than three tenths. Paolo Ippolito (Lenzo / LKE) was relegated to the bottom of the standings.

 

Francesco Celenta (Praga / TM) and Riccardo Longhi (Birel ART / TM) quickly appeared at the top of the third session results along with Ariel Levi (Sodi / TM) and Petr Ptacek (Formula K / TM). Daniel Bray (GP Racing / TM) and Joey Hanssen (CRG / TM) then clarified their ambitions. Longhi set the best lap with 46”998, the provisional pole, 87 thousandths ahead of Levi, followed by Alex Irlando (Sodi / TM), Celenta, Ptacek and Bray. Luca Tilloca (Sodi / TM) finished 9th, the young Emilien Denner (Kali Kart / TM) 14th, ahead of Natalia Balbo (Formula K / TM).

 

Andrea Dahlberg (Birel ART / TM) and Benjamin Persson (CRG / TM) were in the lead of the fourth and final session with Alexandre Arrue (Sodi / TM), Oliver Rasmussen (Kosmic / Vortex) and Javurek. Alexander Schmitz (Tony Kart / Vortex) took the lead in less than a minute, but Persson finished in the lead – 47”110 – with Dahlberg 3rd, Arrue 4th and Rasmussen 5th. Tom Leuillet (Sodi / TM) was satisfied with 8th time, while Yohan Soguel (Lenzo / LKE) finished 10th by 2.4 tenths.

 

Of the 113 participants, 104 set a time in the same second as the poleman with 25 drivers covered by less than three tenths. Longhi took pole position in front of Stell and the amazing Levi, Persson 4th, Cunati 5th, Celenta 6th, Irlando was penalized for excessive noise from 4th to 7th, Schmitz finished 8th, Dahlberg 9th and Zanchetta 10th. Petit in 15th  was the top Frenchman ahead of Arrue 19th, then Rasmussen 21st, Gonzales 24th, Leuillet 31st, Y. Soguel 35th, Besancenez 42nd, Renaudin 47th, Denner 73th and F. Soguel 106th.
