The 2017 World competition began under a heavily covered but not very threatening sky at the Prokart Raceland circuit in Wackersdorf.

The first timed session for the World KZ Championship was decided on the last lap with the extraordinary time of 46”855 by Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM), 0.1217” faster than Simo Puhakka (Kosmic / Vortex). Jérémy Iglesias (Formula K / TM) finished 3rd ahead of Flavio Camponeschi (CRG / TM), Bas Lammers (Sodi / TM) and Davide Foré in 6th. Jorrit Pex (CRG / TM) and Paolo De Conto (CRG / TM) were 8th and 9th ahead of Ben Hanley (Croc Promotions / TM).

It was also very tight in the second session and Marijn Kremers (Birel ART / TM) only secured 1st place on the penultimate pass over the line with a time of 46”920 followed by 22 mills by Fabian Federer (CRG / TM), then Jordon Lennox-Lamb (Tony Kart / Vortex) by 59 thousandths. In 4th place, Patrik Hajek (Kosmic / Vortex) was ahead of Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex). Pedro Hiltbrand (Tony Kart / Vortex) finished 6th, Jorge Pescador (Praga / TM) 7th and Douglas Lundberg (Sodi / TM) 8th.

Abbasse remained the surprise poleman of this 2017 World Championship ahead of Kremers and Federer. It was a good 4th place for Lennox-Lamb ahead of Puhakka, with Iglesias 6th, Camponeschi 7th, Hajek 8th, Lammers 9th and Foré 10th, for a top 10 with no lack of pace.
