The european Superkart field has got 30 entrants for the first Competition of the year, including the protagonists of last season, as well as a growing number of Drivers seduced by the CIK-FIA Superkart Mono Cylinder Cup. Three favourites stand out before the first start. First of all the reigning double champion, the Czech Adam Kout (MS Kart / DEA), delighted to contest his title starting with a circuit where he won both races in 2016. Very well prepared, he will face an opponent in great form, the German Peter Elkmann (Anderson / VM). In addition to his commitment in LMP3, he has increased his training and racing since the beginning of the year to take control of his new Anderson chassis. He also had the opportunity to beat Kout during a French Championship Competition at Magny-Cours last month, as well as the third of the favourites, the Belgian Yannick De Brabander (MS Kart / VM). A talented Rookie in 2016, De Brabander now has the experience to challenge the supremacy of his elders.

Four other contenders for the podium are likely to interfere in the struggle of the top three. The fast Briton Liam Morley (Anderson / DEA) is now a regular in the European places of honour. As the official Anderson driver, he has strong claims to shine at the Castle Donington track. His compatriot Daniel Clark (Anderson / VM), of Team Redspeed, is well prepared after a very successful first season in 2016. The German Andreas Jost (Anderson / VM) and the Dutchman Marcel Maasmann (Anderson / VM) are both strong while many outsiders will add to the starting grid.

The CIK-FIA Superkart Mono Cylinder Cup field is gradually strengthening and we can expect another exciting confrontation between the three-time European Champion Gavin Bennett (Anderson / DEA) and the four-time British Champion Paul Platt (PVP / Gas Gas). Recent British Champion Jack Layton (Anderson / DEA) and the Australian Jordan Ford (Anderson / DEA) are likely join the fight.

After Donington, the CIK-FIA Superkart European Championship will continue at Assen (NLD) on 5th and 6th August before finishing at Bugatti Le Mans (FRA) on 28th and 29th October 2017.
