Hot afternoon for the 2017 Sodi World Finals

While the heat was rising at Cormeilles, the drivers in the Junior Cup continued with their Heat 2 on the 1200m track at RKC. On the programme was free practice, Qualifying and Finals. In the Kids, Alex Connor won a second victory, Benjamin Thiry, 6th in the first Final, this time climbed to 2nd place ahead of Tom Delfosse, again 3rd. The Junior Final 2 was the scene of a big fight between four drivers while Mickael Mota had taken a substantial lead. It was finally Margot Romelli who took 2nd place 9” behind Mota, with Tom-Felix Fusenig finishing 3rd by three hundredths. Christian Douven took 4th place on the line against Gianluca Cadoni.

For Heat 3 of the Junior Cup, the drivers discovered the charms of the 1200m track in reverse. Adrien Le Floch beat Alex Connor in the Kids Final, Tom Emson kept his 3rd place while Benjamin Thiry returned from 11th to 4th position, ahead of Fraser Brunton.

Christian Douven escaped at the top of the Junior Final to finish more than 11” ahead of Alexandr Vasilenko. Mickael Mota took 3rd place. Unfortunately, as a result of an irregularity, no points were awarded at the end of this round.

In the Sprint Cup, the day ended on the 1000m track with Heat 3. For the Super Final, Simon Delvenne was beaten at the start by Kevin Carpasse and Ventsislav Vassiliev before taking the lead to win by 2.6”. Vassiliev took 2nd for a moment, but Caprasse did not intend to miss out on 2nd position. Adrien Spinelli came close to the podium, finishing 4th by 0.167”. Sébastien Fournet lost a lot of ground at the start of the race and had to fight to make up part of the disadvantage.
