First official free practice at Genk for the Academy Trophy

After their great debut on Thursday 11th May, the 49 drivers of the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy had four free practice sessions Friday to complete their testing before the first event of the season. After a first slippery session, Genk’s track was dry all day.

Mike van Vugt scored the fastest time of the day with 55’969, surprisingly in his third run. Oliver Skov Skjellerup followed him a little more than a tenth in front of Brazilian Francesco Melo D. Porto and Britain’s Jamie Day. The fastest driver of his last session, the Moroccan Suleiman Zanfari, came in 5th place ahead of the Belgian Xavier Handsaeme. In the French camp, Dylan Léger posted 12th and Sami Meguetounif 22nd. Come back on Saturday morning from 11:25 am for timed practice.
