A month after winning the CIK-FIA European Championshipat Genk (BEL) in the new OK category, the Spaniard Pedro Hiltbrand won the CIK-FIA International Super Cup for KZ2 in Sweden, proving that his talent was not confined to direct drive engines. The Competition enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and the excellent organisation of the Kristianstad (SWE) circuit and the presence of a large audience.

The Italians had arrived in large numbers for the conquest of the InternationalSuper Cup, accounting for nearly a quarter of the 88 drivers on the grid. The strong Swedish contingent of 17 entries, along with other Scandinavians made up more than one-third of the participants, and showed the dynamism of kart racing in northern Europe despite a small population. The battles were always exciting to watch at the Åsum Ring.

A clear round for a big win

Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG / Maxter / Vega) won the Competition at Kristianstad as a just reward for his efforts after a flawless domination. Already holding pole position after Qualifying Practice, the young Spaniard conceded only a 2nd place in the Qualifying Heats in the middle of a long series of four wins. With another win in the Prefinal, he assured his place on the frontrow of the Final starting grid. His team-mate Felice Tiene (CRG / TM Racing / Vega) started in the lead of the race, then Tommaso Mosca (Maranello / TM Racing / Vega) took possession of 1st place before having to retire due to mechanical problems. Hiltbrand took the lead again and finished as the winner by almost 4” ahead of the European Champion Fabian Federer (CRG / Modena Engines / Vega) and the Swede Benjamin Törnqvist (CRG / TM Racing). 4th position for Tiene gave CRG the top four, with Matteo Viganò (Top Kart / Parilla / Vega) completing the top five.
