One week after the Champions Cup, the WSK has launched the first Super Master Series event on the same Adria circuit. As a result of the collective tests carried out on 21st and 22nd January, almost three weeks have been devoted to karting at the Adria track. The interest for the organiser and the teams is evident in terms of saving time and economy of travel for their infrastructure. But what about the drivers?

The first point concerns the increasingly early dates of the start of the racing season. The Champions Cup took place at the end of January whereas the traditional opening was held at the Winter Cup on the third weekend of February. The start of the WSK Super Master Series takes place one month earlier than last year. For some professionals, the very low temperatures encountered so far render all of the development work unnecessary for the most important phases of the season. It can be seen, however, that drivers / customers continue to start their running early, even if it is known from experience that not everyone will have the resources to continue at this pace until the end of the year;

While the main stakes of the season are concentrated on the CIK-FIA European and World Championships from the end of April to the end of September, it is logical to question of the importance of the races at the very start of the season and year. The hierarchy remained stable in KZ: the winner of the WSK Champions Cup, Paolo De Conto, won the World Championship, while Marco Ardigo won both WSK Super Master Series and the European Championship. The results of the WSK events were not confirmed in the CIK-FIA events in the OK and OK-Junior categories. Some drivers didn’t finish the European season and others abstained from the World Championship.

The tendency to run more is confirmed from year to year. The professionals certainly benefit, as well as drivers with a comfortable budget. In addition to any opinions, there is indisputable data from karting at present, confirmed by the large entries well exceeding 200 drivers in the two first events of the year, thanks to strong participation from the youngest drivers in Mini.
