Prefinal 1 Junior: Vidales wins in front of Petecof

David Vidales (Tony Kart / Vortex) held the lead at the start of the Bahrain World Junior Championship Prefinal 1. Théo Pourchaire’s (Kosmic / Vortex) start of the race was a bit more complicated as Gianluca Petecof (CRG / Parilla) and Sami Taoufik (FA Kart / Vortex) overtook him to take 2nd and 3rd place. Petecof took the lead on lap 3. In 5th place, Hampus Eriksson (Tony Kart / Vortex) was ahead of Alejandro Lahoz Lopez (Exprit / TM), Kiern Jewiss (FA Kart / Vortex) and O’Neill Muth (CRG / Parilla). Pourchaire took 3rd position by attacking Taoufik on lap 5 and Eriksson followed him in 4th place. Perdana Minang (Tony Kart / Vortex) made a big comeback at the edge of the top 10, while Vidales was back in the lead. The leading group had not yet stabilised. Taoufik seemed to encounter problems and dropped down in the standings. Eriksson surpassed Pourchaire two laps from the end to take 3rd place. The win came back to Vidales, followed by Petecof, Eriksson 3rd with fastest time, Pourchaire 4th, Jewiss 5th, Teddy Wilson (Energy / TM) 6th. Ugo De Wilde (Kosmic / Parilla) was 12th ahead of Jack Doohan (FA Kart / Vortex) and Taoufik was only 15th. Gillian Henrion (Kosmic / Vortex) finished 19th.
