2015 World Championship Le Mans – Day 1

As well as being a beautiful sunny day, the first day of the CIK-FIA international event at Le Mans on Thursday, September 10th, saw the start of free practice, with four sessions of 20 minutes per driver. It was in the afternoon that times started to become really significant.

The Italian Andrea Dale (CRG / TM), KZ2 European Champion in 2014, was the fastest of the day in KZ – 52”245 – only 3/100 ahead of the surprising Danish rookie Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart / Vortex ). Then there was a formation finish for the Sodi Boys Anthony Abbasse, Bas Lammers and Jérémy Iglesias (Sodi / TM). CRG had three other drivers in the unofficial top 10, Paolo De Conto (CRG / Maxter), Simo Puhakka (CRG / Maxter) and Jorrit Pex (CRG / TM), while Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Jordon Lennox Lamb (BirelART / Parilla) were not far away.

CRG also dominated in KZ2 with Fabian Federer (CRG / Maxter) – 51”330 – and Martijn Van Leeuwen (CRG / TM) leading the table. The Righetti Ridolfi / Modenas of Antonio Piccioni and Alberto Cavalieri were also very fast in front of Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG / Maxter). Enzo Samon (Exprit / Vortex) proved the fastest of the French ahead of Tom Leuillet (Sodi / TM), Nelson Bondier (Tony Kart / TM), Enzo Guibbert (Tony Kart / Parilla) and Paolo Besancenez (Tony Kart / Vortex ).

Two free sessions were scheduled for Friday before qualifying which will start at 16.10 for KZ2 and at 17:45 for KZ, just after those of the Academy Trophy.
