There was a wet track and light rain for the KZ2 prefinal of the European Championship on Sunday late morning at Genk. Rain tyres were needed. The front row of Joel Johansson (Energy / TM) and Felice Tiene (CRG / Maxter) was under surveillance ahead of Stan Pex (Intrepid / TM) and Jorge Pescador (Praga / Parilla). Johansson started impeccably but Pescador went on the attack already in the centre of the circuit. Pex was 3rd ahead of Lorenzo Camplese (Parolin / TM), Enrico Bernardotto (Maranello / Modena), Tiene, starting poorly from 6th and Paolo Besancenez (Tony Kart / Vortex) 7th, ahead of Alexander Schmitz (Tony Kart / Vortex). Tiene disappeared on the second lap, Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG / Maxter) gained five places to 18th position.

Pescador led from Pex, and Johansson was 3rd. Besancenez was pushed and went off. Pex attacked Pescador, and Johansson, Schmitz and Camplese followed. Maik Siebecke (CRG / Modena) went up to 6th from Sean Babington (Energy / Parilla), Luca Corberi (Tony Kart / Vortex) 8th, and Andreas Fasberg (Tony Kart / Vortex) 9th. The rain stopped after halfway. Pex escaped by a massive 2.8” ahead of Schmitz who passed Johansson, while Siebecke returned to 4th position with five laps to go. Schmitz approached the leader in the closing laps, and Johansson broke away ahead of Siebecke.

Pex defended from Schmitz and won. Johansson was 3rd in front of Siebecke, Pescador 5th, and Corberi 6th. 13th place went to Nicolas Gonzales (Sodi / TM) in front of Hiltbrand, Thomas Laurent (Tony Kart / Vortex) 16th, and Tiene 17th.
