Hanley wins the KF Prefinal ahead of Verschoor

The KF Prefinal was started at PFI with the sun shining pleasantly through the clouds, which pleased the photographers. The start was uneventful for the leader Ben Hanley (Croc Promotions / TM), but Richard Verschoor (Exprit / Vortex) yielded two places in front of Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG / Parilla) and Felice Tiene (CRG / Parilla). The situation was changing rapidly from the second lap with Hiltbrand on his own in the lead then Tiene, Hanley, Verschoor, Alexander Vartanyan (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Juan Correa (Energy / TM) in full fight. Jordon Lennox-Lamb (BirelART / Parilla) quickly returned to the leading group in 6th position but then crashed with Marcus Armstrong (Tony Kart / Vortex). Ben Barnicoat (BirelART / Parilla) moved up to 7th, followed by Tom Joyner (Zanardi / TM). Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart / Vortex) moved up to 9th place ahead of Karol Basz (Kosmic / Vortex).

Hanley, in 2nd, closed back on the leader Hiltbrand. Verschoor was 3rd with a slight gap to Correa, Tiene and Vartanyan in 6th. In mid-race, Hanley was preparing to attack Hiltbrand. Barnicoat passed Vartanyan, Tiene was demoted to 8th behind Joyner. Hanley led from lap 11, Correa grabbed 4th place and Joyner 5th by several lengths. Verschoor then returned to Hiltbrand and took 2nd position. Basz overtook Nielsen for 9th position. Verschoor launched an assault on Hanley. The young Dutchman tried twice on the last lap, the Briton responded brilliantly and won the race. Hiltbrand finished 3rd, Correa 4th in front of Joyner, with Vartanyan 6th.
