CIK Best-of 2014: Ahmed, a first European title

The young British driver Enaam Ahmed has been very prominent this year at the front of the KF-Junior class. He was not necessarily the fastest at every opportunity, he did not win all of the races, but he was the most consistent throughout the CIK-FIA KF-Junior season as evidenced by his final score. He gave his all to win the European title with a victory in his home country. Without doubt we have seen the emergence of a very promising talent.

What do you think about this first European Championship?
– I am naturally very pleased to have won the championship, especially as the Competition was very tough on every occasion. The competitors were different, but all of the drivers in the top 10 had a chance to become champion, so we could never lessen our efforts. At every Competition I improved between Qualifying and the Final. But it was not easy to move forwards during the heats or in the Finals. I had to overtake a lot, which is not always easy.

Did you have to win the Final at PFI to win the title?
– The Championship was very tight, nothing was really a foregone conclusion. I was at the front of the Final, but David Beckmann and Mick Junior caught me. My team gave me told me to do my best as we were at home in England and I had a lot of supporters. Staying in 3rd place did not suit me at all, so I pushed hard to win. Winning the title and the race at the same time is the best thing.

What is your goal for the end of season?
I still have two German Championship Competitions, but the most important is of course the World Championship in Aunay-les-Bois, France. This is the most important Competition of the year, so we will have to prepare very seriously …
