WSK Champions Cup 2015: Nielsen wins the final in KF

Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart / Vortex) started from pole in the KF final, closely tailed by Karol Basz (Kosmic / Vortex). Richard Verschoor (Exprit / Vortex) dropped to 10th in the first corners. Casper Andersen Roes (FA Kart / Vortex) was on Basz’s heels and passed on the 3rd lap. Juri Vips (FA Kart / Vortex) was 4th and Egor Stupenkov (Tony Kart / Vortex) just behind then Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart / Vortex) 6th ahead of Lorenzo Travisanutto (PCR / TM). Max Fewtrell (FAKart / Vortex) began a long climb from the back of the grid.

Nielsen led but not by much, Andersen was still under threat from Basz, Stupenkov, in 4th, was more than 3” off the leader. Andersen was right behind Nielsen, and the top three were grouped in less than 3/10. Travisanutto attacked Stupenkov for 4th place, Verschoor wanted to follow the Russian, but Alexander Vartanyan (Tony Kart / Vortex) got between them for a while before Martijn Van Leeuwen (CRG / TM) took 6th. Verschoor was now threatened by Tom Bale (FA Kart / Vortex).

Fewtrell closed on the top 10, Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart / Vortex) was 12th.

On lap 13, a trace of water hinders leaders, Basz fought with Andersen who gave way after a few laps, and the Pole returned to Nielsen. Meanwhile, Verschoor overtook Marcus Armstrong (Tony Kart / Vortex) and returned to 4th with Vartanyan and Bale. Stupenkov retired, Fewtrell dropped to the back of the pack. At the start of the last lap, Nielsen still had 26 hundredths ahead of Basz, allowing him to control his rival to the finish line and win his first race for Tony Kart. Basz was second, Andersen third with the fastest lap, Verschoor 4th and Vartanyan 5th.
