The 24 ASA trainee drivers took to the track for practice in glorious sunshine. In the opening laps there was a lot of tension as they got down to dialing in their cars and adapting them to the track. Australian Joseph Mawson set the first benchmark time in front of Anglo-Swiss Félix Hirsiger, Lasse Sorensen, Dorian Boccolacci and Russian Denis Bulatov. David Droux from Switzerland suffered mechanical problems and was unable to finish the session. Valentin Hasse Clot was the next to top the time sheets before being knocked off by Belgian Max Defourny. The positions changed frequently and Sorensen soon went to the front as he seemed very much at ease on the French circuit. Behind him came Mexican Patricio O’Ward, Swiss Paul Hokfelt Jr and Frenchmen Valentin Moineault and Hasse Clot.
Barely five minutes into the session Boccolacci snatched first place followed by O’Ward and Hasse Clot pushing Sorensen back to fourth. But the Dane had other ideas! Young Suisse Albanian Gjergj Haxhiu was another who had an early bath after he crashed out. The Gers circuit didn’t take any prisoners among the trainee drivers!
Sorensen improved again and set the fastest time, which he held till the end of the session. Behind him came Boccolacci, O’Ward, Hasse Clot and Hirsiger. Russian Vladimir Atoev put on a late charge and snatched third place pushing O’Ward back to fourth.

Halyway through qualifying after a yellow flag interlude the session restarted, but there were no changes in the positions that had already been decided earlier on. In the first three places were Sorensen, Boccolacci and Atoev followed by Hirsiger, O’Ward, Hasse Clot, Bulatov and Moineault, who were unable to improve their sector times.
At the very end of the session Mawson went off, but held on to ninth place in front of Max Defourny in 10th.
Sorensen set the quickest and second-quickest times so he will start from pole position for race 1 followed by Boccolacci and Hirsiger.

The line-up for the first race will be fixed according the second-fastest time of each driver in the qualifying session. The classification of race 1 will decide the grid positions for race 2 with the first ten in race 1 starting in reverse order. The grid line-up for race 3 will be established according to the fastest time of each driver in qualifying.

Race 1: Saturday 27th September at 9h40.
