World Championship Essay 2014: Nielsen in pole position in KF qualifying

It was a tight battle in the legendary Normandy sun over the three sessions of qualifying for the KF World Championship at Essay. There was no real difference in the track conditions: the top three were first in each session. Already fastest in free practice, Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic / Vortex) continued his dominance during qualifying with the fastest time of the class, 49”093 and 26 thousandths better than Lando Norris (FA Kart / Vortex) and 137 thousandths ahead of Callum Ilott (Zanardi / Parilla). Niko Kari (Tony Kart / Vortex) took 4th place ahead of Tom Joyner (Zanardi / Parilla) in 5th, Felice Tiene (CRG / Parilla) 6th, Karol Basz (Tony Kart / Vortex) 7th, Sasakorn Chaimongkol (FA Kart / TM) a surprising 8th, Gabriel Aubry (Tony Kart / Vortex) 9th and the top French driver and then Nikita Mazepin (Tony Kart / Vortex) in 10th.

Paolo Besancenez (Tony Kart / TM) set the second fastest time in his group and is ranked 13th overall, Nicolas Gonzales (Kosmic / Parilla) 15th, Julien Darras (ART GP / TM) 29th, Paul Evrard (Kosmic / Vortex) 46th, and Alexandre Gadois (Kosmic / Parilla) 55th. In contrast to some of the amazing performances, there was also 65th for Ben Hanley (ART GP / TM), 54th for Riccardo Negro (Top Kart / Parilla) after a shortened session, 41st for Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG / Parilla) and to a lesser extent the 26th fastest time for Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart / Parilla).
