Besler wins the Academy Prefinal

There were no problems at the start of the Academy Trophy Prefinal with Berkay Besler leading ahead of Bradley Liebenberg and Richard Verschoor. Xavier Brunet Lloveras was 4th. Oliver York passed Richard Verschoor for 4th place. Lucas Légeret then took 5th from Konstaninos. Marta Garcia Lopez, Ross Martin and Max Hesse were at the bottom of the standings, soon joined by Verschoor who retired. Rinus Van Kalmthout, one of the favorites, lost a lot of ground early in the race and was in 10th place.

Besler got away ahead of Liebenberg and York. After finding it hard in the early laps, Alexander Vromant attacked and regained several places. There was a Japanese duel for 5th place between Ota Kakunosshin and Hikaru Kogure, Légeret was 7th ahead of Van Kalmthout who was making a full recovery. Besler won ahead of York and Liebenberg. Lloveras finished 4th from Ota and Kogure, Légeret stayed 7th. Van Kalmthout took the fastest lap.
