James Pull put in consistent and convincing performances early on at Castelletto meeting for the second round of the WSK Super Master Series, but an unfortunate incident in the Prefinal cost him his qualification for the final.
The reverse situation had occurred at Sarno for the opening of the series. James started a long way back and regained ground gradually in the heats to get a superb 4th place in the prefinal, before being eliminated in the final after several incidents. On the 7 Laghi circuit at Castelletto, the official driver at Tony Kart Racing Team was immediately on the pace. With the 4th fastest time of his group in KF-Junior, he put together solid heats – 3rd and twice 4th – to take 8th position in the intermediate classification.
The prefinal-B started quite well, James fought within a few lengths of the leading group, keeping in mind that he needed to ensure qualification. The mission was on course until he was pushed with two laps to go, suddenly losing 12”, 17 places and all opportunity to participate in the final. With this early form despite disappointing results we are seeing more and more evidence in favour of the young Briton in only the third international competition of the season.
