Pex wins a dramatic KZ2 final

It was a new front row for the KZ2 final of the WSK Champions Cup with a Zanardi / Parilla in pole position, that of Rick Dreezen, accompanied by Ben Hanley (ART GP / TM). Following closely were Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Jonathan Thonon (Praga / Parilla). Hanley made the best start ahead of Dreezen, Jérémy Iglesias (Lenzo / LKE), Jorrit Pex (CRG / TM), Douglas Lundberg (Alpha Karting / TM), Sauro Cesetti (Top Kart / TM) and Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart / Vortex). Thonon dropped to 15th ahead of Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex).

Iglesias immediately attacked Dreezen for 2nd place then took the lead and was then ahead of Pex and Lundberg. Hanley and Dreezen dropped to 6th and 7th. Thonon was back into the top 10 on lap 5. Lundberg in 2nd attacked Iglesias, who lost two places. Iglesias, Camponeschi, Hanley overtook Lundberg at once halfway through. Thonon and Dreezen were now in the battle.

Pex led by two seconds from the animated group led by Camponeschi ahead of Hanley, Iglesias, Thonon, Dreezen and Lundberg, now threatened by Ardigo. Thonon attacked Iglesias for 4th place, and Ardigo headed his former team-mate Dreezen in 6th. Thonon took third narrowly avoiding contact when Hanley went off line to attack Camponeschi. Iglesias finished in 4th place, Dreezen 5th, Hanley 6th and Ardigo 7th with the fastest lap.
