The Russian Nikita Mazepin (Tony Kart / Vortex) has reversed his position during the qualifying heats of the WSK Champions Cup, round 2, at La Conca. 11th in qualifying yesterday in the rain, he won two heats on Saturday and leads the intermediate standings, just ahead of the Dane Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic / Vortex), also twice victorious. In third place, the British driver Ollie Norris (FA Kart / Vortex) continues to be in the game this weekend, as does the Dane Kevin Rossel (Tony Kart / TM) who was absent last week, and has quickly adapted to Dunlop tyres and is ranked 4th on Saturday night. The Russian Egor Stupenkov (Energy / TM) has moved up to fifth ahead of his compatriot Nikita Troickiy (Tony Kart / Vortex) which is a nice change in the top rankings.

Equal 7th on points, Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart / TM) put in a relatively bad performance which prevented him from fighting for the lead as usual, and his 5 second penalty in the first heat didn’t improve things. But we need to be careful not to go to far from the list of favorites. Karol Basz (Tony Kart / Vortex) closes the top 10 because of a difficult first heat. Winner of a race, but also retiring in the first, Martijn Van Leeuwen (Zanardi / Parilla) is 12th. The French driver Julien Darras (Kosmic / Vortex) is 14th after a 5” penalty in the second heat and a twisted frame in the last.
