Ilott tops the times in KF at La Conca

Petrut Florescu has withdrawn from the WSK Champions Cup at La Conca, due to an accident during practice on Thursday when he broke both legs. In the first qualifying group in KF, Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart / TM) first set a 47” 025, but was soon supplanted by Karol Basz (Tony Kart / Vortex) at the front, Lorandi responded and Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic / Vortex) improved, but Callum Ilott (Zanardi / Parilla) who stole the show with a time of 46” 813 ahead of Nielsen, Basz and Lorandi. Ollie Norris (FA Kart / Vortex) achieved the 5th fastest time ahead of Nikita Mazepin (Tony Kart / Vortex). Gabriel Aubry (Tony Kart / Vortex) only completed two laps before giving up.

The sky was overcast for the second qualifying group. Julien Darras (Kosmic / Vortex) and Leonardo Pulcini (Tony Kart / Vortex) were neck and neck for the first fast laps. Lando Norris (FA Kart / Vortex) joined them in third position ahead of Moritz Horn (Energy / TM) and Tom Joyner (Zanardi / Parilla). Martijn Van Leeuwen (Zanardi / Parilla) then moved up to the top three, while Darras stayed aggressive. He set the fastest lap of the group with 46” 843 ahead of Joyner, Pulcini, Van Leeuwen in 4th then Dionisio Marcu (CRG / TM).

Overall, Ilott was ahead of Darras by 3/100, Nielsen was 3rd, Basz 4th, Lorandi 5th, Ollie Norris 6th, Joyner 7th and Mazepin 8th.
