Rotax Winter Cup 2014: Verschoor defends in the Junior prefinal

The young Dutchman Richard Verschoor (FA Kart – Team TKP) retained the lead in the junior pre-final, but the British driver Dave Wooder (FA Kart – Dan Holland Racing) quickly captured second when the Estonian Juri Vips  (Tony Kart – Strawberry Racing) dropped to eighth. Then the Belgian Max Timmermans (FA Kart – Dan Holland Racing) took third ahead of the Dutch driver Leonard Hoogenboom (FA Kart – Dan Holland Racing) and the American Darren Keane (Tony Kart – Strawberry Racing) while the Austrian Thomas Preining (FA Kart – Team TKP) was down to 6th and 7th when the British driver Alex Quinn (Tony Kart – Coles Racing) passed him on lap 3. Wooder approached Verschoor, Timmermans was 6/10 behind, Quinn passed ahead of Hoogenboom and Vips was now 5th from 7th. The French driver Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer (Tony Kart – Jana Racing) neared the top 10, while his brother Louis-Ferdinand (Tony Kart – Jana Racing) was in 17th position, Enzo Coursimault (Kosmic – PKS) 20th, Hugo Chevalier (Tony Kart – RK Competition) 26th. With two laps to go, Jean-Baptiste dropped to 24th. Wooder became very threatening to the leader, but lost all his chances back down to 5th after a missed attack. Verschoor won the race ahead of Timmermans, Wooder 3rd, Keane 4th, Quinn 5th, Vips 6th and Preining 7th. Coursimault was the top French driver in 15th place, Louis-Ferdinand Simmenauer was 17th.
