Castelletto: The Final Cup at the mid-point of the heats

The weather was gloomy for the start of weekend at Castelletto with slightly rainy races on Saturday morning with some victims on slicks.

KFJ had already started their qualifying heats on Friday, with a victory for Daniel Ticktum (FA Kart / Vortex) and one for Robert Shwartzman (Tony Kart / TM). Lando Norris (FA Kart / Vortex) won two races on Saturday morning with Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart / Parilla) also taking two wins, while Ticktum and Shwartzman each recorded a 14th place which will be detrimental to their final score. Nikita Mazepin (Tony Kart / Vortex) isn’t doing any better with 20th and 24th after a collision at the start. Enaam Ahmed (FA Kart / Vortex) was very consistent and holds two second places, as is Remigio Garofano (Lenzo / LKE) – 4th and 3rd – while the French driver Bryan Elpitiya (Energy / TM) had a good race finishing fifth on a slippery track.

In KF Dorian Boccolacci (Energy / TM) and Matteo Vigano (Top Kart / Parilla) have a win each, the rest precarious on a damp track with a treacherous lack of grip. Marco Maestranzi (Top Kart / TM), Luca Corberi (Kosmic / Vortex), Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic / Vortex), Julien Darras (Tony Kart / TM) and Callum Ilott (Zanardi / Parilla) remain in the game.

Patrik Hajek (Praga / Parilla) won heat 1 in KZ2 against Alexander Schmitz (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Davide Fore (CRG / TM). Jonathan Thonon (Praga / Parilla) took a 4th place to start with, Ricardo Romkema (Energy / TM) finished 5th with his new team. After a good start, Alexandre Arrue (Praga / Parilla) lost ground before returning to 8th position.
