Dorian Boccolacci (Energy/TM) nearly missed the podium at the KF International Super Cup podium held at Sarno together with the World KF Junior Championship. Though drivers were not very numerous, the competition was pretty tough, with several well-known drivers and changing weather conditions.
6th in timed qualifying just 0.1 seconds short of the pole position, Dorian took two second places in the qualifying heats, all on rain tyres, but a fender bender at the end of the circuit hampered him, though he managed to regain as many as 11 places and concluded with a 9th place. In spite of this, he took an interesting third place in the intermediate classification. On an almost dry track, Dorian made a good start in the pre-final right behind the leader, but then gradually lost ground. He was constantly a few tenths too slow to be able to follow the pace of the leaders.
His kart was faster in the final race, but he lost time in the pushing and shoving of the first laps before he was able to give his maximum and start his climb up to catch the three leading drivers. When he was finally able to get a few clear laps at a good pace, they already had a 3” lead, a gap hard to close when one cannot take advantage of drafting. But despite all these difficulties, he set the second fastest time in the race and finished 4th.
