Varennes KZ2: Boccolacci wins prefinal 1

Marco Zanchetta (Maranello / TM) and Riccardo Negro (DR / TM) were on the front row of Prefinal 1 of the KZ2 International Super Cup at Varennes, and were caught in a collision at the first corner so Dorian Boccolacci (Energy / TM) took the lead of the race ahead of Jorge Pescador (CRG / TM), Simone Brenna (TB Kart / Modena) and Alexander Schmitz (Tony Kart / Vortex). Negro came back to 5th and Zanchetta 28th.

Thomas Laurent (Tony Kart / Vortex) also lost a lot of time at the start, he recovered to 14th. Boccolacci kept up the pace ahead of Brenna and Schmitz. Andrea Giulietti (Intrepid / TM) moved up, Emil Antonsen (DR / TM) soared from the back of the grid, then Julien Poncelet (ART GP / TM) dropped back. Negro took over fourth, closely followed by Nicola Marcon (Tony Kart / Vortex). Eric Ramon (Intrepid / Modena) was back in seventh place ahead of Paul David (Tony Kart / Modena), and Laurent moved into the top 10.

Boccolacci quietly increased his lead and Negro attacked Schmitz for 3rd place with two laps to go, but Brenna, in second seemed a bit far for him. Victory went to Boccolacci by 2.2” from Brenna with Negro tailgating. David finished 7th, Laurent 8th with the fastest lap, Nolan Mantione (Birel / TM) 10th, Ramon 11th, Adam Maatougui (Energy / TM) 15th and Oscar Arcila (ART GP / TM) 17th. Zanchetta didn’t qualify.
