It was a great show on Saturday at Varennes in KZ2. Good weather, good racing, lots of spectators and a festive atmosphere with the opening of the paddock to the public. The youngsters stayed at the front despite some mishaps and everyone could see what would have happened without that inconvenience. Dorian Boccolacci (Energy / TM) and Thomas Laurent (Tony Kart / Vortex) are two heroes of the early heats, fifth and seventh respectively in the standings with another youth, Marijn Kremers (Birel / TM).

Riccardo Negro (DR / TM) regained the lead with four victories, Daniel Bray (GP / TM) and Marco Zanchetta (Maranello / TM) finished second and third level on points ahead of Jan Midrla (Birel / TM). Yan Pesce (Energy / Parilla) achieved a tremendous recovery by 42 places since qualifying and is back to a consistent eighth. A bad run has put Paul David (Tony Kart / Modena) back to 9th place, despite his consistency in the top 3. Ricardo Romkema (Zanardi / TM) completed the top 10.

The pole man, Alexandre Arrue (Praga / Parilla) suffered two retirements which are expensive because he is 18th despite two victories. The reigning European champion, Emil Antonsen (DR / TM) improved some from his 66th in qualifying, but is still way back in 35th position. It was also a difficult day for Xen De Ruwe (CRG / Maxter) who is 42nd. What about the bad luck encountered by Thierry Lolmède (RK / TM) who is in 50th position? Wounded in the arm in the third heat, Alessandro Manetti (Praga / Parilla) has had to withdraw.

The top 68 drivers will put everything at stake on Sunday morning in two selective prefinals where only the top 17 get in the final.
