The Ortona circuit resulted in epic races during the qualifying heats of the European Championship for KF Junior. Broadly, the order from qualifying is preserved, but things have changed since the first round at Alcaniz. Dan Ticktum (FA Kart / Vortex), who didn’t qualify for the Spanish race, is continuing to perform brilliantly at the front, while the leader Lando Norris (FA Kart / Vortex) is only 13th on Saturday night. Enaam Ahmed (FA Kart / Vortex), another driver from the RFM team, is second ahead of Parker Thompson (Energy / TM), Martijn Van Leeuwen (Zanardi / TM) who was only 22nd in qualifying. Matteo Raspatelli (Tony Kart / Parilla) returned from his 13th qualification to 5th place.
Sasakorn Chaimongkol (Kosmic / TM) won two races, but dropped off in another, so he is sixth, Alexander Vartanyan (Tony Kart / Vortex) was very consistent earlier on, winning a race, but retired once, putting him 7th, Bryan Elpitiya (Energy / TM) in 9th deserved better too, but in a difficult race was delayed at the start. It was a similar pattern for Robert Shwartzmann (Tony Kart / TM) in 10th with a win and two second places. Gabriel Aubry (Birel / TM) is in 12th after setbacks at the beginning of the meeting, thanks to a victory. He beat Nikita Sitnikov (Tony Kart / BMB) in 14th, Max Fewtrell (FA Kart / Vortex) in 15th and Niko Kari (FA Kart / Vortex) 16th despite winning. In 20th, Sophia Floersch (Tony Kart / Vortex) had a very compelling day but also a retirement. Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart / Parilla) could do no better than 23rd, his brother Leonardo ending up 31st.
