Unusually, the KZ1 races have been the most bad tempered and messy even this early at the WSK Euro Series at Genk. Yannick De Brabander (Maranello / TM) strongly led heat 1 against Max Verstappen (CRG / TM) and Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) while Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM) came back to fourth position with the fastest lap. The French driver led the second heat early on before giving up due to a mechanical failure, then Verstappen won the second heat ahead of De Brabander, second for a while, but he dropped to 17th place due to a penalty of 10” for jumping the start. Jonathan Thonon (CRG / Maxter) took second place ahead of Ardigo, Jorrit Pex (CRG / TM) and Ben Hanley (ART GP / TM).

Ardigo started first in final one, but Verstappen was quick to take control and flew to victory, gradually pulling away, while Dreezen lost his third position. Abbasse and De Brabander crashed, the Belgian soon returning to parc ferme while the French tried to reduce his disadvantage. Positions were gradually fixed with Ardigo second and Hanley third, then Thonon, Leclerc and Dreezen. Abbasse finally came back to 11th place.

This victory gives Max Verstappen a score of 215 points in the championship and has won the crown before final two on Sunday.
