For his second European race in KFJ, Devlin DeFrancesco surprised everyone with an absolutely outstanding performance at the start of the WSK Euro Series in La Conca, Italy. This international event brings together many of the best drivers in the world with sixty competitors from 20 countries and 3 continents. Driving his CRG / Vortex in the team colors of DFR, he was 5th in his group, so he was selected as one of 12 fastest to compete in the Superpole. Already this was a great achievement!
As consistent as he was fast during the qualifying heats, Devlin was almost always ranked in the top 5, which gave him a magnificent 8th place in the rankings, the second achievement of the weekend. Regarding the more difficult finals, Devlin took responsibility: “I made several mistakes.” He confided he was very disappointed on Sunday night. “It’s my fault … “. Visibly upset, he did not wish to speak further.
However, his analysis should be tempered by the reality of racing in KFJ which is wild. In the Prefinal-B, he managed to get a good start despite a difficult position on the outside line. But at the first hairpin he was unfortunately delayed in a collision involving several drivers which put him to 25th. He fought bravely to return to sixteenth to get his qualification for the finals. Moving forward from last row in the decisive race is never easy. His kart was actually slower now and he was unable to recover to attack his opponents.
Devlin learns quickly and who does not make many mistakes, both characteristics which can expected to soon put him in a better position to highlight his speed, which is already remarkable.
