Basz wins the KF prefinal on the last lap

The suspense did not drop during the Prefinal in KF at the WSK Master Series at La Conca. Armand Convers (Kosmic / Vortex) was on the outside front row but had problems on the formation lap, and then at the start, unintentionally delayed the outside line, starting with his teammate Nicklas Nielsen. Martin Kodric (FA Kart / Vortex), the poleman, was overwhelmed at the first corner by Dorian Boccolacci (Energy / TM) followed by Karol Basz (Tony Kart / Vortex). The unfortunate Kodric then sank to the depths of the rankings, with Convers also dropping to around 13th position. Sam Snell (Energy / Parilla) soon joined his teammate in second position.

But Nielsen had a kart swift enough to make up lost time, quickly overtaking Marco Maestranzi (PCR / Parilla) who had taken third position. After a further mechanical Basz was leading from Nielsen. Nielsen was fastest and quickly caught his prey. He was soon the second mid-race leader on the 11th lap, with Basz in his wake. Boccolacci was soon ahead of Snell in 3rd, Lance Stroll (Zanardi / Parilla) fifth, Ben Barnicoat (ART GP / TM) sixth, Tom Joyner (Zanardi / Parilla) seventh and Mario Martucci (Tony Kart / Vortex) 8th.

Convers found the performance limit, finishing seventh, George Russell (Birel / TM) continued a good comeback that put him in 12th position. The last lap was marked by the surprise retirement of Nielsen with a mechanical problem while he was hounded by Basz, the winner of the prefinal ahead of Boccolacci, Snell, Stroll and Barnicoat.
